Our story
When the power across Spain and Portugal went out for an entire day in 2025, Jeroen Hemstede and Remco de Bel were each sitting at their own kitchen table thinking the exact same thing: what would we actually do right now? No power, no card payments, no corner shop that just happens to still be open. Not as entrepreneurs just as a father and uncle.
Not long after, the Dutch government's "Denk Vooruit" booklet landed on our doormat, and that was the moment we decided to actually sort it out. We went looking for a good emergency bag for our own families, and ran into exactly what thousands of other households run into: ten browser tabs open, piecing together separate items from different webshops, or ordering a ready-made kit without ever being quite sure it's genuinely complete.
We figured it could be better. So we built the kit we'd wanted to buy ourselves: one complete, well-thought-out emergency bag, assembled according to the Denk Vooruit checklist, without unnecessary padding and without empty promises.
Emergency Bag grew out of that question at the kitchen table: if it really came down to it, would my family be ready? With our bag, the answer is simple: yes.
What we stand for
- No fear-mongering. We don't believe in selling fear, we believe in common sense. An emergency bag is as logical as a fire extinguisher: you hope you'll never need it.
- Completeness that actually checks out. Our bags are assembled according to the government's guidelines, not padded with gadgets to make the box look fuller.
- Quality over price. We deliberately choose components that actually do the job, even if that costs a bit more than the cheapest option online.
- Transparency. You know exactly what's in your bag, why it's there, and what you should keep topped up yourself (like cash and drinking water).
